Autumn cottonwoods reflected in a lake at Washington Park, Denver
Denver, Colorado

Washington Park

Two lakes, formal gardens and some of the most sought-after streets in central Denver.

Overview

Living in Washington Park

Wash Park takes its name from the park at its centre — two lakes (Smith and Grasmere), a boathouse, a replica of George Washington’s Mount Vernon garden and a loop that fills with runners, cyclists and dog walkers from sunrise on.

The surrounding streets are almost entirely residential, which keeps them quiet, while Old South Gaylord Street and South Pearl Street supply restaurants, coffee and the Sunday farmers’ market a short walk away.

Homes & architecture

Original stock includes brick bungalows, Denver Squares and Tudors on tree-lined blocks. Over the past two decades many lots have been rebuilt with large modern and transitional homes, so a single block can range from a 1920s bungalow to a recently completed custom build — and pricing follows accordingly.

Setting

South-central Denver, generally between Downing Street and University Boulevard, south of Alameda Avenue.

What defines Washington Park
