Highlands Ranch

A long-established master-planned community with recreation centres and thousands of acres of open space.

Overview

Living in Highlands Ranch

Development of Highlands Ranch began in the early 1980s on former ranch land, and it has grown into one of the largest master-planned communities in the country. The Highlands Ranch Community Association operates recreation centres across the community and manages an extensive trail system.

The Backcountry Wilderness Area preserves thousands of acres on the community’s southern edge, and the restored Highlands Ranch Mansion is open for events and tours.

Homes & architecture

Primarily single-family homes built from the 1980s through the 2010s, plus townhomes and condominiums. The gated Backcountry neighbourhood offers larger, newer homes adjoining the wilderness area. Nicholas has closed transactions here, including a $1.95 million sale on Weathersfield Court.

Northern Douglas County, south of C-470 between Santa Fe Drive and I-25.
